Transforming Rehabilitation with Cutting-Edge Technology: A Look Inside OrthoHelse Mexico

OrthoHelse is a groundbreaking physiotherapy clinic in Guadalajara, Mexico, dedicated to revolutionizing rehabilitation through advanced exercise therapy devices and personalized care. In a recent interview, Marcel Poffet, the founder of OrthoHelse, shared insights into the clinic’s inception, the innovative technology they employ, and the remarkable impact on patient recovery.

From Personal Experience to Professional Excellence

Marcel Poffet’s journey into the David exercise therapy devices began after his daughter suffered a ligament rupture and underwent surgery and rehabilitation in Switzerland. The swift recovery she experienced using David Health Solutions’ devices inspired Marcel to bring this cutting-edge technology to Mexico. “For me, it was through personal experience. I had my daughter that had a ligament rupture on her knee. And at the time she was living and studying in Switzerland. So, she got surgery and then went there for rehab. She started feeling pretty good pretty fast. So, I kind of looked into it and said, ‘Well, you know what did they do? What was different?'” Marcel recounted.

Establishing OrthoHelse

After doing some research into the devices, Marcel’s vision materialized with the establishment of OrthoHelse, a physiotherapy clinic that focuses on physical therapy, exercise therapy, and rehabilitation. OrthoHelse has five physical therapists, a rehab specialist, and a doctor that works with them. Most patients have 12 sessions that can be increased to 24 sessions if needed. “We have a lot of patients that have just gotten out of surgery, so we do a lot of combined therapies. They are getting a 2-for-1 deal because they’re doing what they would do in another center for physical therapy, but they’re getting the added value of being able to exercise either before or after their session,” Marcel explains.

The market in Guadalajara for rehab centers is competitive, with a lot of centers and low prices. Despite this, OrthoHelse strives to offer the best treatment, even if it means not being the cheapest option around. Their dedication to improving patient care through innovative technology has driven the clinic’s success.

Integrating Advanced Technology

OrthoHelse employs a range of David devices focusing on spine, hip, and knee rehabilitation. The integration of these devices allows for a unique combination of traditional physical therapy and exercise therapy, accelerating patient recovery and enhancing overall treatment outcomes. “The value is in the fact that patients are able to exercise pretty quickly in a safe way. Combining traditional physical therapy with exercise therapy as we do with the David devices, the recovery can be a lot quicker, and patients feel better a lot quicker as well,” said Marcel.

The clinic also utilizes the EVE system to streamline patient management, making it easier to track patient progress and ensure comprehensive care. Despite some initial challenges with software updates and device maintenance, the overall feedback has been positive. “It’s great because you can have everything in one place. We just have all of the patient files directly on EVE… everything is on EVE. It feels a lot more personal,” Marcel noted.

Patient Success Stories

The clinic’s innovative approach has already yielded notable success stories. Patients have experienced significant improvements in mobility and pain reduction, contributing to a higher quality of life. One patient “got very well very quickly” after suffering from a knee injury. “After ten sessions she already wanted to stop because she felt so good,” recalls Marcel. Another patient, who was not able to cook at home or even stand for more than ten minutes, can now cook, walk around, and go up the stairs. Sharing his own personal experience with the devices, Marcel said, “I suffer from chronic back pain for years now. And I don’t have any pain anymore. It’s been great. I can play golf now without feeling bad.” He also highlighted his father’s progress, who, after multiple surgeries, is now walking better and no longer needs a motorized cart for shopping.

Looking Ahead

While OrthoHelse is still in its early stages, Marcel has ambitious plans for the future. He aims to expand the clinic’s range of services and devices, increase patient referrals from surgeons, and enhance patient independence in their rehabilitation process. “What I want to see is more referrals from surgeons because those patients are easier… They trust their doctor. So, it’s a lot quicker,” Marcel said. “We need to make sure that people can do this by themselves. One of the big things with this model is that you want to get people training independently.”

Conclusion

OrthoHelse stands as a beacon of innovation in the rehabilitation field, combining advanced technology with personalized care to transform patient outcomes. As the clinic continues to grow and evolve, it remains dedicated to its mission of providing exceptional rehabilitation services and improving the lives of its patients.
